Grand Theft Auto series may be returning to Vice City

It has been 7 years since the release of the mega-popular Grand Theft Auto V. While we know Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development, we know next to nothing about it… except for maybe a location.

It seems that the beloved open-world crime series is moving back to the neon-drenched streets of Vice City. The Miami, Florida equivalent was the setting of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002. The game took place in 1986 and featured a lot of similarities to things like Miami Vice, Scarface, and more. Since then, fans have been clamoring for a return.

It looks like it’s about to happen as Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, has registered a domain for GTA Vice City Online. An eagle-eyed Reddit user made the finding and noted that they’ve updated the GTA VI domain as well. We have no idea if that means GTA VI is going to get a reveal anytime soon (don’t hold your breath)

It’s also worth noting that Grand Theft Auto Online is confirmed to feature a new update later this year. This update will feature new heists in a new location, whether that’s somewhere in Vice City remains to be seen.

The site was updated in March of 2020 but registered way back in 2009. It could just be for safekeeping in case Rockstar decides to revisit that setting. Regardless, we are getting a Grand Theft Auto game in 2021… Grand Theft Auto V for next-gen, of course.

We’ll keep you updated if this story develops.
