Miniature co-op-survival game Grounded out in Early Access on Xbox One & PC

Honey, I shrunk the player

Grounded, Obsidian Entertainment’s unlikely venture into the co-op survival genre is now out in Early Access on PC and Xbox Game Preview on the Xbox One. Subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass on PC can play the game for free. Check out the recent trailer from the Xbox Showcase event!

Obsidian Entertainment is most famously known and loved for their expertise in the RPG genre, with landmark games like Fallout New Vegas or Pillars of Eternity. Seeing that, the announcement that the seasoned studio was dipping their toes in the popular co-op survival genre led to many a head experience whiplash from the sheer surprise.

Not even one year after the initial reveal, Grounded is now out on PC and Xbox One. Players can look forward to an ever-changing, evolving, and improving experience since the title has launched in Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. For the survival genre that’s actually par for the course.

We can’t wait for players to step into Grounded’s backyard. In fact, community is so important to us at Obsidian, that we specifically wanted to bring Grounded to Xbox Early Access so we could gather and implement your feedback early in the game development process and ultimately build a better game. This is the beginning of our journey together, and we will be adding content based on feedback from the community for everything from single-player story to new bugs and features. So once you’ve had a chance to play, please let us know what you think and any features you want added to the game!

What isn’t however is the game’s unique and whimsical setting. Players find themselves shrunken to the size of an ant and have to survive the deceptively threatening world of a backyard. Creepy crawlers and environmental hazards will keep this far from a peaceful stroll through peaceful scenery. Collect resources, build your base, and fight all kinds of insects.

Players can look forward to reliving their childhood fantasy of living the cult 80s movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids either alone in solo-mode or together with up to three friends in jolly co-op.
