Developer People Can Fly shared the news that Outriders will come out on April 1st. No, that is not an early joke on the behalf of the studio. Furthermore, a demo for the RPG-shooter will also come out on February 25th.

The PvE shooter space is pretty crowded these days. With live service games more popular and numerous than ever before, it takes a lot for newcomers to become successful. Outriders has just the right pedigree to succeed.

Published by Square Enix and developed by People Can Fly, the sci-fi co-op shooter could become the next big thing. Even if you don’t recognize the studio’s name, you’ll surely remember their games. They worked together with Epic Games on Gear 2, 3, and Judgement.

But their crowning achievement is the ridiculously fun Bulletstorm. Hence, Outriders is promising from the start. These developers sure know how to create extremely satisfying combat.

Outriders originally targeted next February for release but alas. The developers decided it would be better to take the extra time to polish their new IP. After all, first impressions do matter in the contested online shooter market like no other.

And from our early experience with it, Outriders is definitely one title to look out for. You can read more about our thoughts in our preview coverage here. Especially, if you’re looking for a traditional complete game. As the developer states, Outriders is not a live service game and instead a complete product.

Still, that doesn’t mean eager gamers won’t have anything to look forward to next month. Outrider will receive a meaty demo towards the end of February. People Can Fly promises the full experience in the demo which spans the first few hours of the campaign.

It also features access to all characters classes and solo & co-op gameplay. The cherry on top, you’ll be able to transfer your progress from the demo once Outriders fully releases in April.

Outriders will launch for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on April 1st.

The new trailer for Scavengers is here and it’s a promising tease for the co-op action game set in a frozen wasteland. The promising PvEvP open-world shooter is getting a technical playtest this month which you can sign up to experience the ambitious shooter for yourself. Check out the new gameplay trailer here!

Unveiled two years ago, Scavengers immediately turned heads not only with its style and ambitions but the people behind it. None other than developers who worked on Halo 5’s Warzone multiplayer mode are creating this title.

While Halo 5 was a divisive entry in that series, its multiplayer component was anything but. In fact, the MP portion – Warzone included – is the best thing about the FPS. As such, it’s reassuring that the devs who were responsible for that are behind Scavengers.

Experience a new kind of competitive shooter, where every match offers multiple strategic avenues. Your objectives: capture more data points than rival squads, and stay alive – the rest is up to you. Track enemy players through snow, pit AI wildlife against adversaries, use storms and shelters to your advantage, stealthily navigate outposts, or take on the world guns blazing. It’s Player-vs-Environment-vs-Player, and creativity equals victory.

And what we’ve seen and learned about it, it’s promising to become an even better game on its own. The world of Scavengers is ravaged and in disarray after a catastrophic asteroid impact. Not only did that lead to the world becoming a hostile frozen hellscape but mutant monster are now roaming the world as well.

You and your squad of three other players are trying to survive this harsh world. But there’s more to it than just killing mutated creatures and hostile squads. The world itself requires you to hunt for food and resources to just survive.

It’s this mix of genres, PvP online action, survival against the elements, and fight against hostile AI creatures that make Scavengers so enticing. Interested users can sign up for the upcoming ‘Technical Playtest’ this month between the 18th-20th.

Crytek’s brilliant competitive survival-horror shooter Hunt: Showdown is landing soon on the PlayStation 4. Publisher-developer Crytek released a statement about the PS4 version’s imminent launch on February 18th. The studio further teased continued and meaningful support including a PvE mode for solo play.

The German Wunderkind developer Crytek experienced a very rough past decade after pushing out one disappointing title after the other. Despite starting their history supremely well with the original Far Cry and topping it immediately with the spiritual successor Crysis, things looked wonderful for the studio. In hindsight, deciding to tune the brilliant Crysis gameplay to fit into console hardware and gameplay conventions turned out to be an unwise decision. The franchise is pretty much dead in the water these days.

But Crytek didn’t try to revive their premiere IP and instead jumped into the multiplayer train with moderate success at first with the F2P Warface. The experience made during this led to the studio’s most recent breakout hit Hunt: Showdown. As a self-published title, Hunt won over gamers on Steam during its Early Access period. It subsequently launched on the Xbox’ Game Preview program and fully released last year.

Looking beyond Update 1.2, Hunt: Showdown will see even bigger updates arriving, including cross-play between Xbox and PlayStation, a Solo PvE mode, live-events, outfit customization, and a new map.

The big good news today is that PlayStation 4 users can look forward to finally play Hunt: Showdown next month. As part of it, Crytek has teamed up with Koch Media who will handle the physical and digital release of the console versions.

In their blog post, Crytek also promised to continue supporting Hunt: Showdown going forward with new content, game modes and live events. The biggest takeaway here is the remark of a solo PvE mode in the future which will be very welcome for gamers who aren’t into multiplayer gaming. There’s no timeline on these updates.
