Modders on the PC released a very promising mod for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s a fairly nice attempt at allowing users to play the open-world action-RPG from a third-person viewpoint. You can see how well it works – and doesn’t – in this developer video!
After an unprecedented anticipation period, the title launched earlier last month. Suffice to say, if you don’t live under a rock, you’ll know that it went anything but smooth.
Even worse, the game was so broken, especially on current-gen systems, that Sony even delisted it from its stores. Something unheard of up until now. Furthermore, widespread refund programs started both in digital and local stores.
Despite all that, Cyberpunk 2077 still managed to become one of the best-selling games of the year. The PC and next-gen in particular delivered the best experience possible. Don’t be fooled by reaction videos, bug compilations, and funny skits, many are very happy with the game. Even if it could have been so much better.
You can patch bugs and improve performance. But the core of the game usually remains. That’s exactly where the modding scene comes into play. As you might expect, talented folks in the scene immediately went to work to improve Cyberpunk 2077 in various ways.
One highlight among those is now available for download on NexusMods. User ‘Sarunama’ created a third-person mod that shifts the perspective from first-person to third-person. This makes Cyberpunk 2077 much more like The Witcher 3 or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Ever since the game’s proper reveal, CD Projekt Red’s decision to make it an FPS garnered mixed emotions. Arguably most since the studio’s prior excellent The Witcher 3 was a third-person RPG. Hence, many were anxious whether the jump to first-person was the right move.
With the arrival of the third-person view mod, you can now choose how to play Cyberpunk 2077 yourself. Obviously, the mod is still not perfect and still a work in progress. Thus, don’t go in expecting a smooth ride just yet. Still, as the video shows, it’s already very playable and will surely become only better.
