Now, here’s a nice surprise to start off the new year. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth soon receives its final and biggest expansion. Developer Nicalis revealed that the Repentance expansion launches on March 31st for PC. Console versions will follow later. Check out the release date trailer here!
Edmund McMillan’s cult action-roguelike The Binding of Isaac is already one of the most acclaimed games of its genre. The game originally started out more than a decade ago as a Flash game. But its instant rise to fame ultimately led to a full-fledged remake with The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
With Afterbirth, players already got a meaty expansion way back in 2015. But despite its age, the developers continued to support the indie sensation with the announcement of Repentance. Not only adds the upcoming expansion lots of new content but the developer even claims it’s bigger than what you might expect from a proper sequel. Bold claims.
The Binding of Isaac: Repentance features hundreds of new features and quality-of-life improvements. It’s the ultimate edition of the genre-defining roguelike, now with OVER 500 HOURS of new gameplay!
And thanks to the news that The Binding of Isaac: Repentance will launch on PC in three months, you won’t have to wait too long to confirm it either. At the moment, only the PC will get the new expansion. But the console launch will happen sometime later.
There’s no word on concrete dates just yet. Neither do we know if every single platform will even see a launch of the new expansion. You have to remember, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is available across a plethora of platforms and console generations. So, it remains to be seen whether the PS Vita and Wii U will get Repentance at all.
For the time being, you can look forward to experiencing it on PC, however. The place where it all started for The Binding of Isaac.
